Wet Feet Fishing Seminars

These are hosted IN the Yakima River!  These free seminars are done in the water so you can see real techniques, get real info, and achieve real results with your own fly fishing.

Nymph Fishing the Yakima River - Mike Canady of Red's Fly Shop.  Learn what actually works on the Yakima River from a pro guide without having to pay for it!  Mike will give you on the water instruction on how to unlock the Yakima River from underneath the surface.

Switch Rods and Spey 101 - Charles St. Pierre of Sage Fly Rods and Northwest Spey Casting.  This course is designed to explain Switch rods and basic spey fundamentals to anglers that are... "spey curious".

Advanced Spey Casting and Big Distance - Charles St. Pierre of Sage Fly Rods and Northwest Spey Casting.  This is for anglers with some spey skill already, that want to learn advanced technique and skills for monster casts.

Dry Land Casting Seminars

These clinics are absolutely free! Plan to attend the one that fits your skill level.  They are very educational and there is usually plenty of time for some 1:1 tutoring afterwards.

Beginning Fly Casting - by Dick Sagara of TFO Fly Rods.  Learn from the ground up, or find out what it is that you have been doing wrong all these years.  This is a great seminar for any skill, but it is essential for beginners.

Advanced Fly Casting - by Brian Okeefe of Catch Magazine.  See the Great One demonstrate techniques to advance your casting and get "Raw Distance and Power" out of your fly cast.  Brian is unanimously regarded as one of the world's greatest fly casters.

Kid's Fly Fishing - by Dick Sagara of TFO Fly Rods.  Fly casting is fun!  Let your kids learn the "right way" to cast and have some fun.  Dick's teaching methods are casual, fun, and effective!

Fly Fishing Theatre in the Lodge Conference Room

Outdoor Photography - by Brian Okeefe of Catch Magazine.  He is one of the best fly fishing photographers in the world, and he is willing to share some of his techniques and tips to make your photos better, even if it means using the same camera you already have.  It involves photographing fish as well as other outdoor subjects.

Yakima River Trout - by Joe Rotter of Red's Shop.  Learn from a long time pro guide on the Yakima River about how to fish the river effectively 12 months out of the year.  He will help you identify the hatches that matter, and give you insight on approaching each one effectively.

Eastern Washington Steelhead Fishing - by Joe Rotter of Red's Fly Shop.  Learn how to effectively fish the Wenatchee, Methow, and Klickitat Rivers for Steelhead.  This program is beginner friendly and will provide some effective insight on getting started.

How to Row a Drift Boat

ANYBODY can do this!  It is 100% free, and you can learn to row a boat safely in the Yakima River Canyon in a short amount of time.  It is a great course to take whether or not you own a drift boat.

Fly Tying

Our staff along with some other expert fly tiers will be giving demonstrations and lessons in the lodge all day long.  There will even be a Kid's Fly Tying lesson!  All FREE!

Fly Casting Competition

There will be generous prizes awarded to the "non professional" division winner! Last year this was a huge success and there will be some novelty casting that is a lot of fun and non competitive.  It is really fun to watch, especially with a cold drink in one hand!

The 509 State of Mind...

If you don't plan to participate in any of the classes, clinics, etc. - no worries.  There will be wine, beer, appetizers, and you can just kick back at our lodge and enjoy being in a "509" State of Mind in the Yakima River Canyon!
