Spey Casting 201 - Intermediate Spey Casting Class
So many times we have heard people say…
"I'd like to try that sometime."
Assuming you are familiar with the principles of the spey casting stroke and
feel you have a handle on the essential moves covered in Spey 101, then
you’re ready for SPEY 2O1. In this course you’ll learn the essential
on-the-river spey casts and line management tactics to successfully spey
cast to Pacific salmon and steelhead.
With these casting skills, you’re ready to head to the Klickitat, the
Wenatchee, the Methow or other northwest rivers in pursuit of powerful
Pacific steelhead and salmon.
When you’re comfortable with these basic spey casts, then you’re ready for
our ADVANCED SPEY CASTING course where you’ll learn how to transform your
powerful D-loop into an energy-charged V-loop. You’ll learn the advanced
versions of the Double Spey and Snake Roll as well as the Perry Poke, the
Wombat and the Jelly Roll. Next, try your hand at the one-handed Single Spey
casting with a “switch rod.” Finally we’ll pass on tips for advanced spey
casting and river tactics to help you become an expert spey caster and
steelhead angler.
Topics include
-
Learn how traditional spey lines have evolved into three distinct
branches, each with their unique casting style.
-
See how the northwest is on the leading edge of development of the
latest spey lines and why they’re perfect for casting to Pacific

Building the principles and skills covered in Spey 101, you’ll learn
four basic river casts which will enable you to fish any moving water.
Snap –T, Delta Spey, Double Spey, and Snake Roll

See how learning to cast these basic casts both right- and left-hand up
can give you an advantage on the river

enjoyable and successful day on the river. You’ll have the opportunity
to “test drive” different spey rods, lines and reels. We’ll match you
with the rods and lines which are right for the seasons and conditions
you’ll be fishing and which are right for your personal casting style
