If there was
a vote for the most likeable guide on staff, everyone would vote for Leif.
Except himself, of course. He is friend to everyone and never
complains about any workload that is thrown at him, weather, wind, or other
adverse conditions. He simply smiles and gets through it with a great
attitude and puts fish in the boat.
Leif started his great pursuit of fly fishing as a young boy, watching
videos of casting, reading countless books and practicing everyday. He fell
in love with Ellensburg during his college years at Central Washington
University, spending every spare moment on the Yakima River. He began to
work for Red’s during this time and learned guiding from the best, making
life-long friends with everyone on staff.
Leif is currently working at Sage Fly Rods as an assistant product manager
for both Sage and Redington rods. He is learning the industrial aspect
of the fly-fishing world. He guides for Red's on weekends, vacation time,
and occasionally a "sick" day. He loves his job at Sage but when
opportunity knocks he finds his heart longing for Ellensburg and a few days
of guiding in “God’s country”!
Like a few other guides on staff, Leif loves to big game hunt, heading into
the woods every chance he gets. His long-time girlfriend, Brooke, is a
devoted companion, keeping up with his forays into the wilderness with
unflinching dedication and little complaint. His dog Kenai helps keep
Leif's hiking stride in shape and is his personal trainer. Snowboarding
consumes most of Leif’s winter in search of the deepest snow Washington has
to offer, he isn't sure if he has found it yet so he keeps on looking, and
looking, and looking...
