Nanci Lambert has been in the
travel business for nearly twenty years and currently manages Bob McGinnis
Travel in Carmel CA. Bob McGinnis Travel is the oldest agency on the
Monterey Peninsula - in business since 1949. Nanci has been chosen by Red’s
Fly Shop to sell and promote their fly fishing trips. She was born and
raised in California, spending many vacations in the outdoors; some of those
as a Boy Scout Adult Leader. Nanci is not new to fishing, as her father
was a commercial fisherman and she has fished with her husband and sons for
many years (let’s not mention her out fishing them all). In the past few
years she has found her passion in fly fishing and is now able to combine
both of her loves – “fly fishing and travel.”
Nanci brings her clients to the
Northwest for the Introduction to Fly Fishing Program; most of them are
ladies and family groups – occasionally a mixed group of both as well as
couples. She loves watching clients have a wonderful experience on the
river, learning from the guides; and at the resort - enjoying the food,
wine, camaraderie and fish stories. Nanci enjoys cooking for the groups
and assisting in the instruction. After Introduction to Fly Fishing, her
clients are ready for Red’s destination travel and she has already taken
other clients to places like Alaska and Montana --- adding Belize this year,
with more destinations to come.
In her spare time, Nanci can be
found spending time on as many rivers as possible. She has fished for salmon
and trout in Alaska; trout in Montana, Washington and northern California;
and steelhead in Washington and California. Nanci has formed a ladies fly
fishing group in Carmel – “The Fly Fishing Foxes” with an age range from 35
to 75, many of these ladies are new to fly fishing and some have been
fishing for years. She is Fly Fishing Merit badge counselor for the local
Boy Scout troop and plans to bring them up to Red’s for a merit badge
weekend. She also enjoys cooking and spending time with her family (this
includes ten grandchildren) in her country home.
