Rod hails
from the metropolis of Pomeroy, WA in the foothills of the
Blue Mountains. He calls the Blues and the Grand Ronde home
as he spent his youth hunting and fishing them with his dad
and grandpa. Over the years, Rod has explored water all over
Washington and guided part-time. In 2003, after working at
Hanford for 28 years, he took early retirement from his job
as a Superintendent to live the dream and has been guiding
full time since the new owners took over in 2001. He is an
excellent fly fishing instructor, especially with beginners,
and his soft-spoken manner is always good company in the
boat. Rod loves to bird hunt and helped establish our bird
hunting program; he has dedicated a lot of time to training
our bird dogs. He has a son and a daughter who live in the
Lower Valley, and four wonderful grandchildren. Rod recently
moved to Wenatchee to be closer to his new fiancée Sue, an
avid fly fisher. He continues to guide for us full-time and
will help us continue to expand our fly fishing operations
beyond the Yakima.
