Ted is the Cinderella story of our guide
staff. He has bounced around the west after being born and raised in
Northern California and bumming around Lake Tahoe as a ski bum and trout
guide. It was after he took every possible class at Lake Tahoe Community
College that he decided to head for the University of Montana, the “Ivy
League of the West” to study finance and fly fishing. After college, he
moved to the Seattle area and put his brain to work in the mortgage business
and started a family. After years in the business world and countless hours
in front of the computer screen, Ted and his wife decided to take the plunge
and they moved to Ellensburg to live out every young family’s dream, the
simple life… the guide’s life. He still balances a small workload from a
home office but his heart pumps to rhythm of the river.
His interest in fly fishing likely came from his father Joe, who was the
Vice President of Fenwick rod company for 11 years during their reign over
the fly rod industry. After he left the company, things begin to go
downhill but Ted still fishes a number of the fine rods produced while his
dad was running Fenwick. When not on the river,
Ted enjoys gardening with his wife Sarah and two boy’s Jack and Cole (bear).
He is the founder and current CEO of the Washington State Poker Tour, where
he holds the honor of being the first member inducted into the the Hall of
Fame. Ted’s latest passion is upland bird hunting and he plans to work he
way into guiding bird hunts for Reds in the near future.
