Troy has morphed into a full blown brother of our core guide staff at Red's.
He fishes day and night and has established himself as one of our primary
guides on the Yakima River. He takes everything in true
stride and as long as he is outdoors life is good, simple, and pure.
His passion for fishing started at the early age of 5 where he grew up in
the land of ten thousand lakes, Wisconsin. Troy spent many hours camping,
canoeing, and fighting northern pike and walleye on his snoopy pole with his
dad and grandfather. After his move to the Seattle area in his elementary
years he discovered the great outdoors of the Pacific Northwest and fly
fishing through his friend’s paraplegic dad, an inspiration to all fly
fishermen. He showed him the art of the sport and patience involved to
outsmart trout. Troy and his older brother Ryan started to tie flies and go
on road trips together and automatically fell in love with the sport. Troy
took fly fishing to the next level, spending time in local fly shops and
meeting as many people in the industry as he possibly could. In matter of
fact Troy’s job shadow in junior high school was with a local Ellensburg fly
fishing guide. After high school, Troy knew fly fishing and working outside
was the only way to live and purchased his first drift boat.
Troy now resides in Ellensburg, and is well into his degree of Environmental
Geology at Central Washington University. Troy is following the footsteps of
many of the great guides that have led this same path. If you ask Troy what
brought him to CWU he will automatically respond with …..the river! Troy’s
passion for fishing will never end and will lead him to many places around
the world and catch as many fish as he possibly can.
Troy's guide formula.... client + Troy + trout = FUN
