FREE Trout Spey Clinic This Sunday with Ben Paull of OPST

March 15, 2017

Anglers, listen up. Stop wasting time.  I don't take this tone very often but this is urgent haha!  This Sunday, March 19th, you'll get a chance to learn from one of the best trout spey instructors in the country, Benjamin Paull of the OPST.  Depending on the size of the group there may be some wading/casting involved, but just listening, watching, and asking questions will do wonders for your game.

10:00 am - March 19th - Red's Fly Shop

He is not only a great instructor on teaching HOW to catch fish on trout spey gear but he is also a great guy. Friendly, down to earth, and to the point.  This is a rare and unique opportunity to get access to one of the brains behind the best selling trout spey lines on the planet.

Yes the river will be high and dirty but this is the PERFECT time to dedicate time to learning and honing your skills. Why in the world would you do this when the river fishing great?!  You would be wasting time.  Anglers should take advantage of the poor conditions to learn more about this discipline and hone your skills.

Email staff@redsflyshop.com to RSVP for the class!

Here is an example of some of the skills Ben will teach and demonstrate~!

  1. What is required to attend this demonstration/ instruction with Trevor?
  2. Ben did a great job! After the session I tired a 3wt rod and the staff put on a 200 grain OPST Commando & it felt too light. Question: For the 3wt ECHO SR, what is the grain weight range for the OPST Commando head; 250-275? Same question for an indicator line? Thanks!
  3. Hi Rick, https://www.redsflyfishing.com/Airflo-Speydicator-Fly-Line-Spey-Line-for-Nymph-p/airflo-speydicator-mp.htm This line in a #4 would work great. In the OPST I would encourage you to go for 225 Grains. Much more than that and you'll rob too much of the rod's performance.
