The "Pat" in Pat's Rubber Legs

July 1, 2014

It seems appropriate to acknowledge Pat Bennet (He is on the oars fishing the Henry's Fork of the Snake where he developed his pattern) on a day when fishing a single size #8, coffee and black Pat's, 3 feet beneath a strike indicator, was in a word "great".  Small, medium and large  rainbows came to the net.  We even had a few summer stone fly nymphs hitch a ride, crawling along the gunnels of my drift boat.  Solid evidence of why the "Pat's" was once again getting it done.  Blue ribbon day on a blue ribbon river in one of the most beautiful canyons in the lower 48.  Thanks Pat!

  1. Mike, when did you fish with Pat?
  2. Joe, I first met Pat in 2007. I featured him in an article on the Henry's Fork. Photographer Chase Jarvis and I joined him for a 3 day float on the HF. At that time, Pat was a senior guide with Hyde Outfitters. When LeMoyne Hyde sold to World Cast, we fished again together on a story for the South Fork of the Snake. He is a retired Lt. Colonel and lives in Rexburg, ID. He no longer guides just fishes. Mike
