Rendezvous Seminar Updates

This is going to be awesome, there is now a country music concert following what we feel might be the best fly fishing event on the planet.  Currently there are 3 rooms available at Canyon River Ranch Lodge.  Call in the next little bit and nail it down if you want to stay.  We have added A LOT of content this year!

Red's Rendezvous VI

This event will have one of the best lineups of casting clinics and seminars in the country. We'll something for everyone including hands on fly casting fun casting demos, kids fly fishing, good food, door prizes, hunting dog demonstrations on live birds, live music by Zach Hinson, a beer garden, and a ton of seminars both indoors and out.

The $5 admission is a deal, and it includes entry for some great door prizes donated by our sponsors:

Spey Seminars by Simon Gawesworth ON the River!

World renowned spey caster Simon Gawesworth will lead a variety of on the water two-handed casting seminars including a piece on single hand spey casting. This is a unique opportunity to learn from one of the best spey instructors on the planet! The Red's staff will also assist with some supplemental instruction.

We'll have ongoing instruction throughout the day for anglers that want a tune-up on their casting.

This is hosted by the Red's Staff, it is safe, fun, and a great way for your kids to have a great experience at Canyon River Ranch.

Wisdom of the Guides ? Professional Nymph Fishing Strategies by Joe Rotter- time TBD

Come learn tips from the pros about indicator nymph fishing.  Lots to learn here, this will be one hour that is jam packed with good intel.

Beginner?s Fly Casting ? Hosted and Taught by the Federation of Fly Fishers - ongoing throughout the day

This is a GREAT opportunity for beginners to come learn from certified casting instructors that are willing to patiently work with you on building the foundation for a successful journey into fly fishing.  They are kind, funny, and enjoyable to learn from.

Non-Pro 5 Weight Casting Competition

We're going to raise some money for a charity that is yet to be announced and the winner will receive a Sage ACCEL 5 weight fly rod courtesy of Sage!

What a great prize for just showing up and doing some fly casting. The contest will be fun for all skill levels and there will be some novelty targets that you will all enjoy. This is super fun to watch and participate in. Don't be shy about trying your skills on the course, our staff is there to encourage you and help your fly cast.

Last year we had "the tree of death" as one of the challenges on the casting course. You had to hook your fly around the tree and if you lost your fly.... you're done! This year we'll have even more creative novelties including a moving target!

We'll be posting all the rules and details as the date approaches.

Women?s Fly Casting Class ? 1:00 pm

This class is all girls.  We'll have a wonderful female instructor that will lead this class you and you won't have to worry about any men or husbands standing around nagging about your casting haha!  This will be a great time and a great way to break into the sport.  

Upland Bird Dog Training and Demonstrations by Ron Stiffler ? 12 pm

This is fun to watch, we'll have some Rooster Pheasants planted and you'll get to watch a finely trained upland dog, locate, point, and flush live roosters right here on the property.  Don't worry, there won't be any shooting going on but it is super fun to watch an animal that was bred and trained to hunt do its thing.  Ron will also be available to talk about all the Red's Hunting operations, opportunities, and answer questions on training your own dogs.

Fly Tying ? Ongoing Throughout the Day

We'll have some guys here tying killer bugs and talking you through some of the finer points of fly tying.  We won't have schedule or anything like that.  Just cruise the lodge and watch the guys tying during the day.

Knot Tying Workshop by Red?s Fly Shop Staff

This is one of the workshops we are most excited about!  Everyone has that knot that trips them up. Come learn how to tie each of these knots in the lodge.

Kid?s Fly Fishing Activities

11 am ? 3 pm - This is going to a be a rotating circuit, kids can join the group at any time.  They will rotate between two activities until they get burned out and come find mom and dad.   They will rotate through fly casting, bug hunts on the river's edge, and maybe even some basic knot tying.

Live Music Performance by Zach Hinson

Zach Hinson is a Northwest born and bred country music artist, singer, song writer. He grew up in West Valley Yakima, Washington. Spending his years growing up camping, hunting and fishing with his family developed his desire to put emotion & experiences on paper & his guitar. As Zach became more interested in music, he found his home in country. Now Zach writes music that most can relate to. He stirs emotions with his rich country voice. Whether you have spent your whole life in the city or in the country. Take a listen to any of Zach Hinson's music and you will soon be swept away by his ability to make the listen feel the same emotion. We hope you enjoy the music and his journey to the top!

I believe the lodge is booked full, but there is great lodging available in nearby Ellensburg. Better get it nailed down soon, because I have a feeling this will be a big event!
