Yakima River is a Bit High Today

January 20, 2015

The Yakima River bumped up with a shot of rain we had two days ago and is a bit on the high side.  Fishable but less than ideal.  It is predicted to drop into nice shape in the next few days and this weekend might be really good.  Here is a snap shot of the "prediction" model that suggests good fishing as the river dips back below 2,000 cfs.  In addition to the usual winter nymph game (stones and zebra midge/wd-40's), try San Juan Worms as the river drops back into shape.

  1. Hit the upper river today. Great midge hatch. Anywhere the sunlight hit the water I found fish feeding on Zebra's under the surface.
  2. Thanks Nate for the report, keep 'em coming.
